The proposed resolution authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Wisconsin-Department of Civil Engineering to design a wave control structure for the beach exclosure being constructed at Warner Park Beach. The estimated cost of this work is $60,000. Funding is provided in the 2020 Adopted Capital Budget for Stormwater Utility Quality System Improvements (13313-84-174-84300).

Body
WHEREAS, in 2019 Dane County and the City of Madison have agreed to jointly fund the creation of four (4) clean beach exclosure (treated water) systems at local City of Madison Beaches; and,

WHEREAS, the County design staff have successfully created these systems at three (3) beaches around the County currently; and,

WHEREAS, Warner Park Beach House and parking area are currently being reconstructed to accommodate the construction of a beach exclosure system; and,

WHEREAS, the wave forces at Warner Park require design and construction of a detailed wave suppression system to allow the exclosure system to work; and,

WHEREAS, the Department of Civil Engineering on the UW Madison Campus has the expertise to design this system and is willing to assist in this joint project; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter in to a Memorandum of Understanding with University of Wisconsin Department of Civil Engineering to work on and fund the design of the Warner Beach W...
