The proposed resolution authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to contract with KL Engineering, Inc. for design engineering services for John Nolden Drive from North Shore Drive to Olin Avenue at an estimated cost of $2,345,000. Funding is available in the 2020 Adopted Budget for Engineering - Major Streets under the John Nolen Drive Project (MUNIS 11860-402-170).

Body
The City of Madison is proposing to reconstruct John Nolen Drive from North Shore Drive to Olin Avenue in 2026-2027. The project includes reconstruction of the roadway, 6 bridges along the causeway (3 northbound, 3 southbound), the multi-use path & associated bridging, lighting & stormwater facilities. The City desires to enter into an agreement with a consultant for design engineering services.
Pursuant to City Ordinances and Policies, the City Engineer advertised for consultant proposals, reviewed the submitted proposals, and recommends the design engineering contract be awarded to KL Engineering, Inc. The consultant’s services will include the completion of preliminary plans and the Environmental Assessment report and Final Plans & Specifications.
This will be a multi-year design project (2020-2025) and construction is scheduled for 2026-2027.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with KL Engineering, Inc. for design engineering services for John Nolen Drive (North Shore Drive to Olin Avenue).
