Wages
The total cost for the proposed wage increase, over the life of the contract, is $1.4 million. This calculation includes permanent wages, overtime (including compensated absences), premium pay, and benefits. The table below shows the cost by year and by expenditure type.

The 2020 portion of the pay increase was anticipated in the 2020 Adopted Budget. No additional appropriation is required.
Premium Pay Adjustments
The proposed contract also includes modifications to various premium pays for Teamster staff. These changes are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal impact and can be absorbed within Metro’s existing premium pay budget.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
The Labor Agreement between the City of Madison and Teamsters Union Local 695, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, for the period January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2021, is hereby adopted in its entirety and confirmed in all respects and the Mayor and Clerk are authorized to sign the agreement.
