Public Health-Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes accepting funding from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on behalf of the Division of Public Health to support the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). In February, the Board of Health authorized PHMDC to accept $33,890 to implement a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program in order to provide additional breastfeeding support to WIC participants who are pregnant and/or breastfeeding. The actual amount of the grant totaled $34,010 and PHMDC proposes accepting this funding to continue supporting WIC participants. Under the terms of the merger agreement, the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County may authorize PHMDC to accept and spend grant funds (IGA, VII, F, 1-3).
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes the Director of Public Health enter into and sign an agreement accepting $34,010 for implementation of a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program as part of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
