Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a two-year agreement that may be renewed for an additional one year period, with Mad-City Ski Team, Inc. at Law Park. The agreement sets the terms and conditions upon which the City will allow Mad-City Ski Team, Inc. to use portions of Law Park and the adjacent Lake Monona lake bed for water ski shows, practices, lessons and other special events. In addition to a security deposit, Mad-City Ski Team, Inc. will pay the City anticipated fees of $2,475 over the term of the agreement, $800 in 2020, $825 in 2021, and $850 in 2022. The 2020 revenue is included in the Parks Division Operating Budget (Munis 51110-43522).

WHEREAS, the Mad-City Ski Team was formed in 1995 following a merger of two ski teams, the Capital City Ski Team and the Madison Water Ski Show Team, and since around 1986, through itself and its predecessors, the Ski Team has been putting on weekly free summer water ski shows for the public at Law Park in Madison; and,

WHEREAS, the Ski Team is made up of a group of dedicated volunteers that perform free water ski shows for the Madison community throughout the summer and compete in regional and national water ski show tournaments. The Ski Team is nationally recognized for its innovative shows and thrilling water skiing and has won National Championships in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2019; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to performing water ski shows, the Ski Team also hosts a disabled skier clinic, runs a learn to ski program and helps run the Clean Lakes Festival that is dedicated to cleaning up Dane County’s lakes; and,
