Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution amends the Dane County Narcotics Task Force 2020 Operating Budget and authorizes the Madison Chief of Police, acting on behalf of the Task Force, to accept $10,000 for two years of overtime funding from the Wisconsin Department of Justice. The overtime will be used to allocate additional Task Force resources for conducting methamphetamine investigations. The Madison Police Department (MPD) participates in and acts as the fiscal agent for the Task Force. As such, MPD officers will be eligible for the overtime funded by the grant. There is no local match requirement for the grant and there is no impact on the levy.

WHEREAS, the Wisconsin Department of Justice (WDOJ) has been awarded a federal 2018 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP) grant, to be administered by the Division of Criminal Investigation, for reimbursement of overtime hours spent on conducting methamphetamine investigations to address the growing problem of methamphetamine abuse, manufacture, and distribution; and,

WHEREAS, WDOJ wishes to make a subaward to the Dane County Narcotics Task Force of $5,000 annually for 2020 and 2021; and

WHEREAS, eligible Task Force members include the Madison Police Department, Dane County Sherriff’s Office and University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department; and,

WHEREAS, Police Department officers on the Task Force will be eligible for up to $10,000 in overtime funds over two years for these methamphetamine investigations.
