Fiscal Note
The 2020 Adopted Capital Budget includes $125,000 for the Economic Development Division’s Façade Improvement Grants capital program. The proposed resolution awards a $10,000 façade improvement grant. The Façade Improvement Grants program will have $105,000 of remaining budget authority following this grant award.

Body
On October 3, 2000, the Common Council adopted Resolution ID # 61179, approving the Facade Improvement Grant Program to support and encourage small local businesses to reinvest in the downtown and smaller, neighborhood shopping and business areas and designating the Community Development Authority as the agent of the City for the operation and administration of the Program. The grants are matching grants and will be provided in an amount up to 50% of the total project costs up to a maximum of $10,000 for a single facade, $20,000 for a building with two facades, and $25,000 for a “flatiron” building. The objective of the Program is to restore, beautify, or enhance the entire facade or elevation of a commercial building.
The Facade Improvement Grant Program Staff Team has reviewed the following Façade Improvement proposals and determined that it meets the requirements of the Program. The Urban Design Commission has reviewed the proposals and recommends design approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council does hereby approve the following Facade Improvement Grant proposals:
1. 828 E. Main Street, Grantee: Creative Warehousing, LLC
The scope of the exterior work will include:
a. Rehabilitation of existing sliding door.
b. Rehabilitation of existing windows.
c. Install new exterior lighting.
d. Install round projecting sign.
e. Removal of concrete along front of Ceremony room and install landscaping and privacy screen.
f. Touch up painting.
Total project cost is estimated at $27,350....
