Title

Public Art in Parks

Body

The BPC regularly receives proposals to install art, usually sculptures, in parks. Recent examples include the Mildred Harnack Memorial at Marshall Park and the Sid Boyum sculptures at two of our east side parks.

LRP will study this situation with the goal to draft a policy to guide the Board of Park Commissioners' decision making process. The policy will clarify (1) steps organizations and individuals will follow when requesting art installation in a park and (2) factors that the Park Commission might review in determining its response to the request.
