Task Force on Municipal Golf in Madison Parks Update

The Task Force on Municipal Golf in Madison Parks met in October and November. The Task Force elected Bill Barker, former Park Commission President, as the chair. Staff has presented information on the current golf course operations, the financials of the Golf Enterprise Fund (GEF), a comparative evaluation of operational models for municipal golf courses, as well as a marketplace comparison of golf courses in the Madison/Dane County area.
The Task Force is also working with staff to develop an engagement plan for the community. It is likely to include a survey, pubic meeting(s), as well as focus groups to ensure various stakeholder’s have a voice in the process. Another key part of the community engagement plan is to keep an updated website available to follow the progress of the Task Force. Almost all of the documents collected, including staff presentations and public input can be found by using the website and working through the agendas and minutes of the meetings.
