Board of Health Resolution #2019-30 Authorization to Accept Funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to Enhance Public Health Preparedness and Response to Opioid Epidemic

Body

In 2018, Public Health-Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) was awarded the $20,000 Enhancing Public Health Preparedness: The Opioid Epidemic (OEND) Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on behalf of the Division of Public Health to strengthen public health preparedness and response around the ongoing opioid overdose epidemic in Wisconsin.  Additional funds have been made available to support transcription of family interviews for the overdose fatality review project and for the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office to conduct additional toxicology testing.

Funding concludes November 30, 2019 and PHMDC is requesting approval to accept the additional $10,000 to support the activities indicated above.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to enhance public health preparedness and response to the opioid epidemic in Dane County and to accept funding outlined in the agreement.
