PREAMBLE

WHEREAS, The City of Madison and Dane County, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) have proposed a joint project to reconstruct Cottage Grove Road from I39/90 to Sprecher Road; and 

WHEREAS, The project is proposed to be constructed in 2020; and

WHEREAS, The City of Madison has completed final design the first phase of the project, which includes reconstruction of Cottage Grove Road to a four-lane urban boulevard with two vehicle lanes in each direction, bike lanes in each direction, raised grass medians, sidewalk on each side of the street; and

WHEREAS, The City of Madison has approved final plans, specifications and schedule of assessments for the project (RES-19-00644); and

WHEREAS, The City and Dane County will share costs on the project as noted in the county’s policy for Joint Projects with Municipalities; and

WHEREAS the County agrees to continue winter maintenance and snow removal responsibilities of Cottage Grove Road from I39/90 east to Sprecher Road; and

WHEREAS the City agrees to take over winter maintenance and snow removal responsibilities on Buckeye Road/CTH AB from I39/90 east to USH 51/Stoughton Road beginning on Nov 1, 2021; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby approved to execute an agreement with Dane County for cost sharing & maintenance of Cottage Grove Road.
