Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the attachment of 4.4 acres to the City of Madison from the Town of Verona. The City of Madison acquired the subject property, located at 6444 Nesbitt Road, in October 2018. No additional City appropriation is required.

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a petition to cause approximately 4.4 acres of City-owned property located at 6444 Nesbitt Road to be annexed to the City of Madison from the Town of Verona.
Body
WHEREAS on May 1, 2018, the Common Council adopted Resolution 18-00349 (ID 51003) authorizing the execution of a Purchase and Sale Agreement between the City of Madison and James R. Weber and Susan Weber, owners of property located at 6444 Nesbitt Road, Town of Verona, for the expansion of Apple Ridge Park; and
WHEREAS on September 25, 2018, the Common Council adopted Resolution 18-00692 (ID 52597), amending Resolution 18-00349 to adjust the purchase price, accept a non-cash charitable donation, and extend the closing date 120 days; and
WHEREAS the City of Madison acquired the subject property by Warranty Deed recorded at the Dane County Register of Deeds as Document No. 5444486 on October 1, 2018; and
WHEREAS the City endeavors to annex or attach properties it owns into its corporate limits whenever practical;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute the annexation petition and all documents related thereto to cause the approximately 4.4 acres to be attached to the City from the Town of Verona.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Parks Division, Planning Division and Office of Real Estate Services are authorized to prepare the necessary documents and file the annexation petition with the necessary government entities for approval.
