Title
Accepting noncash charitable contributions from Kohler Company for the Thurber Park Artist Residency.
Body
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2018, a lease with the Town of Blooming Grove was approved by Resolution No. RES-18-00069, File No. 49683, which will allow for the City to use the space located at 3325 Thurber Avenue as an artist studio; and
WHEREAS, this arts use is fulfilling Darbo-Worthington-Starkweather Neighborhood Plan recommendations adopted by the Common Council on September 19, 2017, Resolution Enactment Number RES-15-00436, File ID No. 47509; and
WHEREAS, private contributions are necessary to renovate the facility to be suitable as an arts studio; and
WHEREAS, the facility’s bathroom needs upgrades to make it make it compliant with ADA accessible guidelines; and
WHEREAS; anticipating the building’s use as an art studio, the Madison Arts Program Administrator and Madison Public Library Bubbler staff wish to install a large utility sink in the studio area for the artist’s use and to facilitate clean-up after community workshops and events; and
WHEREAS, the Kohler Company claims as part of their social impact values that art energizes public spaces, emboldens thinking and enriches communities; and
WHEREAS, the Kohler Company’s corporate giving program offered to provide staff’s desired sinks, toilets, tanks, and other parts necessary for the ADA bathroom remodel and the artist studio.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City formally accepts Kohler Company’s product donations for the Thurber Park Arts Residency.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City’s Principal Accountant may sign the Kohler Company’s Product Donation Receipt Acknowledgement and IRS Form 8283 accepting Noncash Charitable Contributions.
