The proposed resolution authorizes acceptance of an $11,000 donation from the Madison Community Foundation and amending the Planning Division’s 2019 adopted operating budget to appropriate the revenue and purchased services expense.

Body
WHEREAS, on January 16, 2018, a lease with the Town of Blooming Grove was approved by Resolution No. RES-18-00069, File No. 49683, which will allow for the City’s use of space within the Town’s vacant building located at 3325 Thurber Avenue as an artist studio; and

WHEREAS, in April of 2018 the Madison Common Council accepted a donation of $12,000 from the Madison Community Foundation (Resolution RES-18-00399, File No. 51475), towards expenses related to improvements to the building that include bathroom remodeling costs, windows and electrical upgrades; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Community Foundation recognizes the Thurber Park Artist Residency as a project with great potential to positively impact the Darbo-Worthington neighborhood and our entire community, and thus they have now provided an additional $11,000 in funding towards expenses related to youth programming and workshops that will occur once the residency is occupied; and

WHEREAS, these funds will be used to help pay for artist fees, purchase shelving and other program related supplies, food for workshop participants, and hire program intern that will help organize the residency.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Planning Division’s 2019 Adopted Operating Budget is amended to appropriate $11,000 for purchased services and private donation revenue in the Neighborhood Planning and Preservation service;
