The Magic Pebble Foundation Inc was established in Wisconsin in 2012 as a nonprofit private foundation. The Foundation supports organizations in Wisconsin, as well as some national and international causes. This Foundation aims to support organizations that open doors by removing barriers to basic services such as health care, social services and civil rights. Magic Pebble approached PHMDC and wished to support the work of the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Program.

PHMDC has been a provider of NFP services since 2012. The NFP mission is to positively transform the lives of vulnerable babies, mothers and families. NFP is an evidence-based, community health program that serves low-income women pregnant with their first child. Each mother served by NFP is partnered with a registered nurse early in her pregnancy and receives ongoing nurse home visits that continue through her child’s second birthday. NFP goals are to improve pregnancy outcomes, improve child health and development and improve economic self-sufficiency.

The Magic Pebble Grant totals $10,000 and will help support NFP through the use of flexible funds for NFP clients to cover the costs of such things as: a portion of rent, car repair payment, gas cards, or educational courses. Flexible funding has proven invaluable for NFP families in previous years. Funds also support the NFP Community Advisory Board (CAB). Our CAB was formed intentionally to elevate the voices of families most impacted and thus is comprised of current and former NFP participants. These women volunteer their time to provide feedback on ways the NFP program and services in Dane County can be improved to better support young families.
