Board of Health Resolution #2019-13 Authorization of Budget Transfer of Communicable Disease Grant Funds

Public Health-Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) is a grantee of the Communicable Disease Grant, intended to reduce the burden of communicable diseases in Dane County. The Communicable Disease Grant is provided to every health department in Wisconsin through the 2017-2019 Biennial Budget and administered through the Wisconsin Division of Public Health. PHMDC has been a recipient since 2017.
At PHMDC, this funding has supported staff in reducing the burden of communicable diseases, increased capacity to respond to communicable disease events and increased communicable disease awareness in the community along with practical prevention opportunities. Due to lower than anticipated salary expenses, PHMDC proposes a budget transfer in the 2018-2019 Communicable Disease Grant from salaries to purchased services as outlined below to provide ongoing consulting services to communicable disease staff, medical supplies for needle exchange, and program services related to an intern working with to reduce stigma associated with tuberculosis in Dane County.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes the transfer of the amounts of the 2018-2019 Wisconsin Department of Health Services Communicable Disease Grant as outlined for the purpose of reducing the burden of communicable diseases in Dane County.
