Title

Request from Friends of Merrill Springs Park to add a Native American Commemorative Plaque in Merrill Springs Park

Body

The Friends of Merrill Spring would like to honor the Native American history of the park by attaching a small brass plaque to the large boulder next to the cistern which visitors pass as they enter the park. It would have the spring’s Native American name, Mąąką’ Mąą’íi, and underneath would be the English interpretation Medicine Spring.

Staff recommends approval of the project subject to written confirmation of the name and other information from the Ho-Chunk Nation.
