Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes an intergovernmental agreement with the Madison Metropolitan Sewage District (MMSD) for sewer improvements as part of the Haywood Dr reconstruction project. Under the agreement, MMSD will reimburse the City $57,500 for their share of the project. If adopted, this resolution will appropriate $57,500 in the Sewer portion of Reconstruct Streets to be funded by the reimbursement from MMSD.

Body
WHEREAS MMSD plans to replace most of the MMSD Southwest Interceptor between West Shore Drive and North Wingra Drive; and,

WHEREAS, the City intends to construct improvements to the public infrastructure along Haywood Drive, including, but not limited to, resurfacing and the installation of a sanitary sewer main, sanitary laterals and storm sewer; and,

WHEREAS, MMSD and the City have discussed these two projects and have determined that efficiencies can be achieved if the two public works projects are coordinated; and,

WHEREAS, upon the construction of MMSD’s new facilities and the City’s new main, the City is agreeable to performing the abandonment work associated with approximately 1400’ of 24” diameter cast iron sanitary sewer pipe and five (5) sanitary sewer access structures which currently make up part of the MMSD Southwest Interceptor, all of which must remain in service until the completion of the City’s sanitary sewer main replacement; and,

WHEREAS, this work will be completed by the contractor of the City project and the City will pay the contractor for the work; and,

WHEREAS, MMSD will reimburse the City for the cost of abandoning the length of 24” diameter pipe referenced above as well as the five (5) sanitary access stru...
