Law Park Master Plan Process Update

The City of Madison Parks Division has hired a consultant team led by SmithGroup to complete a preliminary report for Law Park. The report will include the results of a public engagement effort and a thorough technical and regulatory review of the lakefront site. The study area includes Law Park proper, the lakeshore and portions of John Nolen Drive for a potential connection to city’s access easement along E. Wilson Street. The public engagement portion of the work will be led by Urban Assets and EQT by Design and will incorporate a multifaceted approach; including meetings with smaller stakeholder groups, neighborhood associations, on-site intercept reviews, tabling at larger community festivals, an on-line survey and, later this summer, three large community workshops. Parks staff are currently working with the team on the public engagement strategy and timing. In addition to the engagement work, ZebraDog will develop branding and promotional materials for the overall preliminary report effort. A project kick-off press release is scheduled for later this month. The final report will be completed by the end of 2019 and Parks staff will provide a progress update at the September Board of Park Commissioners meeting.
