Title

BOARD OF HEALTH RESOLUTION #2019-06 AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES TO SUPPORT PERINATAL HEPATITIS B PREVENTION

Body

Public Health-Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) works to prevent the transmission of new cases of hepatitis B in newborns as a part of the Immunization Program. Public Health Nurses work with hepatitis B-positive pregnant mothers prior to giving birth, and follow-up with the family once the baby is born regarding the completion of the three-dose hepatitis B vaccination series, as well as post-vaccination serologic testing.

To support these activities, PHMDC submits reimbursement requests to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) for services provided, and has done so since 2015. This year, DHS has requested that PHMDC enter into a grant agreement to formalize the reimbursement schedule and rates. Under this agreement PHMDC is eligible to receive $200 in reimbursement for the identification and case management of each pregnant, hepatitis B-positive woman. For infants born to hepatitis B-positive mothers, PHMDC will be reimbursed an additional $200 for each infant who completes the hepatitis B series in a timely manner, and $200 per infant for the completion of post-vaccination serologic testing. The reimbursement requests are to be submitted on a quarterly basis.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison Dane County, on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes the Director of Public Health to sign a grant agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to support Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention efforts in Madison and Dane County
