BOH RESOLUTION #2019-02 AUTHORIZATION TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE WISCONSIN DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO CONTINUE THE OVERDOSE FATALITY REVIEW PARTNERSHIP.

Body

In 2018, Public Health - Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) received $25,000 from the WI Department of Justice (DOJ) participate in a pilot project to establish an overdose fatality review partnership in Dane County in response to increased opioid overdose death rates in the County over the past decade. With this funding, PHMDC established a fatality review partnership and collected data to establish a reporting system with technical assistance from the Medical College of WI. Partners in the overdose fatality review include Dane County Human Services, Dane County Sheriff, Madison Police Department, Dane County EMS, Madison Fire Department, and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

 

Funding concluded August 31, 2018, and PHMDC is requesting approval to accept the $24,000 in grant funding to continue the overdose fatality review partnership in Dane County for a second year.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County, authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Justice to continue funding for the overdose fatality review partnership in Dane County and to accept funding outlined in the agreement.
