The proposed resolution authorizes an amendment to the existing contract with Strand Associates for additional design services for the East Johnson Street Reconstruction project. The estimated cost to amend the contract for additional services is $24,100. GO Borrowing funding is available in the project for the proposed contract. Project construction is budgeted in the executive 2019 capital budget.

Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute an Amendment to the contract between Madison and Strand Associates, Inc. for additional design engineering services for the E. Johnson St. Reconstruction Project. (2nd AD)

PREAMBLE:
The City is proposing to reconstruct E. Johnson St. from Baldwin St. to First St. in 2019. The City entered into an agreement with Strand Associates, Inc. for design services (Original: RES-15-00183). Geometry was approved for the intersection by Common Council (RES-17-00723). City Engineering & City Traffic Engineering were authorized to proceed with final design for reconstruction of the intersection.
The City Engineer recommends that additional design services be undertaken by Strand Associates, Inc. They are:
1. Revise Final Roadway Plans & Specifications to raise road profile along Tenney Park
2. Revise Storm Sewer, Sanitary Sewer, Water Main Plans & Specifications due to profile change
3. Revise Utility Coordination with private utilities
4. Final Roadway design
5. Submit revisions to Wisconsin Department of Transportation for Bidding
6. Prepare exhibit and legal description for Sidewalk work on First St.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an Amendment to the contract between Madison and Strand Associates, Inc. for additional design engineering services for the E. Johnson St. Reconstruction Project.
