The 2018 budget includes $30,000 to support the work of the task force. The 2019 budget will need to include any unused appropriation from 2018 to support work efforts of the task force after January 1, 2019.
Title
Extending the deadline for the report and recommendations of the Task Force on the Structure of City Government.
Body
WHEREAS, Resolution RES-17-00714, Legistar File 47707, created Task Force on the Structure of City Government; and,
WHEREAS, the Task Force was given a deadline of December 31, 2018 to complete its work and issue its report and recommendations; and,
WHEREAS, the timing of the appointment of members to the Task Force, the initial organization of its work, and the scope of its obligations now make it clear that the report and recommendations will not be completed by December 31, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, a more realistic deadline for the Task Force is the middle of 2019, which the Task Force has set as its goal; and,
WHEREAS, to avoid having to return to the Council to get an additional extension if the work is not finished by the middle of 2019, it is appropriate to have a final deadline in December, 2019,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Task Force sets a goal of finishing its work by July 1, 2019; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council extends the deadline for finishing the work of the Task Force to no later than December 1, 2019.
