No Appropriation Required. This resolution authorizes the Engineering Division to issue a request for design proposals of Garver Path; the project is included in the Engineering Division's 2019 capital improvement plan request and future funding will be subject to future budget approval.

Authorizing City Engineering to issue a request for proposals for design engineering services for Garver Path.  (6th & 15th ADs)

Body

WHEREAS the City of Madison Engineering Division in the proposed Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is proposing a new pedestrian & bicycle path, called the Garver Path along the north east side of the City, generally located around the Wisconsin & Southern Rail Road Corridor, and

 

WHEREAS the Garver Path includes a new path from the Capital City Trail near Sugar Avenue along a new alignment to Milwaukee Street.  The path includes two new bridges across the Starkweather Creek & a new boardwalk structure over wetlands in O.B. Sherry Park. 

 

WHEREAS the Garver Path can serve as a link for the northern portions of Schenk-Atwood-Starkweather-Yahara Neighborhood & the northern portions of Eastmorland Community to connect to the Capital City Trail and Downtown and further points beyond.

 

WHEREAS the City of Madison Engineering Division has applied for Federal Funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to assist with construction funding for the project.

 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Engineering Division is hereby authorized to advertise a request for proposals for the project.
