The proposed resolution approves plan documents for the 2018 Bridge Repair program at a total estimated cost of $500,000. The Engineering Major Streets adopted 2018 capital budget provides $540,000 of GO Borrowing within the Bridge Repair program (MUNIS 10538) for repair, maintenance, and replacement of Madison’s bridges.

PREAMBLE
The annual bridge inspections have identified the need for repairs on several of the city bridges. Bottom deck repairs are needed on the Campus Drive Bridges over Highland Avenue and Walnut Street, spot repairs are needed on the John Nolen Drive Bridges. The Milwaukee Street Bridge over the west branch of the starkweather creek and East Washington Avenue Bridge over the Yahara River and the west branch of the Starkweather Creek will have polymer overlays to protect the bridge decks.
BE IT RESOLVED,
1) That the plans and specifications for Bridge Repairs - 2018 be and are hereby approved.
2) That the Board of Public Works be and is hereby authorized to advertise and receive bids for said project.
3) That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to accept dedication of lands and/or easements from the Developer/Owner for public improvements located outside of existing public fee title or easement right-of-ways.
