Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution approves the relocation order to obtain land interests required for the water main replacement coinciding with the Phase 6 of the Cannonball Path near Arbor Hills at an estimated cost of $7,000. The Water Utility has $411,000 of available budget authority from an adopted 2015 capital project for the proposed work in the Arbor Hills Water Supply project (MUNIS #10435). Funding is provided by Water Utility Revenue Bonds.

Determining a Public Purpose and Necessity and adopting a Relocation Order for the City of Madison to obtain the land interests required for the construction of the Cannonball Water Main Phase 6 project.

WHEREAS, the Madison Water Utility has a long range Master Plan that includes improving and upgrading the existing water distribution system in order to meet basic system requirements such as adequate water pressure, water supply flow rates, and consistent high water quality; and
WHEREAS, the Cannonball Water Main project, in its entirety, has the following objectives: 1) to ensure that the water distribution system remains adequate to meeting the water needs in Madison Water Utility Pressure Zones 6 and 7 and other parts of the City of Madison, and in particular the needs of the Arbor Hills neighborhood, for consumer use and fire protection; and 2), to improve and upgrade the overall water distribution system in order to meet future water distribution needs as part of the Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Cannonball Water Main Phase 6 is the final phase of the Cannonball Water Main project and is necessary to complete a pipe network that will improve and upgrade the water distribution system providing water to Zones 6 and 7; and
WHEREAS the Cannonball Water Main project, when completed, will improve the water distribution system in order to adequately meet the present and future water needs of Zones 6 and 7; and
