Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes Metro Transit to use a sole source contract for bus repair for fiscal years 2018 through 2022. The contract amount will not exceed $200,000 per year; Metro Transit's adopted 2018 operating budget includes sufficient budget authority within the purchased services budget for the contract cost. Future operating budgets will include the costs associated with this service agreement.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into a sole source contract with Budget Truck and Auto, Inc. for five years, January 1, 2018 - December 31, 2022 for repair of Gillig buses. The contract amount would be not to exceed $200,000 per year.
Body
WHEREAS, Metro Transit on occasion needs a body shop to perform structural repairs to Gillig buses; and
WHEREAS, using an authorized repair shop perform the repairs removes the liability from the City of Madison; and
WHEREAS, Metro employees are not trained to do structural repairs, and Metro does not have the proper tooling; and
WHEREAS, Budget Truck and Auto, Inc. is the only body shop in Wisconsin recommended to do warranty work that Metro is unable to perform;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into a sole source contract with Budget Truck and Auto, Inc. for five years, January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2022 for repair of Gillig buses, for an amount not to exceed $200,000 per year.
