Title

Request from University of Wisconsin to Install up to Four Wildlife Cameras in Glenwood Park

Body

Dr. Ankur Desai, Professor in the Dept. of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the UW-Madison, is seeking approval for a small school-based research project.  Desai is mentoring a group of 7th graders at Hamilton Middle School interested in studying local wildlife, using wildlife cameras attached to trees to monitor comings and goings of small mammals.

Desai and the students are seeking permission for the students to install up to four trailcams in the woods near the firepit in Glenwood Park (see map) for 3-4 weeks in Feb/March 2017.  The cameras will be locked and a sign describing the project with Desai’s contact information will be provided at each location.  Desai will assume all responsibility for the equipment and will work with West Parks Supervisor Laura Bauer on the installations to ensure trees won’t be damaged.  Alder Eskrich and the Dudgeon-Monroe Neighborhood Association have provided confirmation of support for this project.
