Title

Request from University of Wisconsin to continue the installation of a Wildlife Camera along the Bikepath in Reindahl Park for a second year.

Body

David Drake, Wildlife Ecology Professor in the Dept. of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at the UW-Madison, is collaborating with colleagues at the Urban Wildlife Institute at the Lincoln Park Zoo to understand how wildlife (primarily mammals) communities may change with differing land use, zoning, and human density within Madison.  To do this, wildlife cameras will be deployed for one month, 4 times per year (January, April, July, and October) along a gradient extending NE and SW from downtown Madison.  Drake is requesting permission to continue the installation of a camera attached to a tree in Reindahl Park.  Drake will assume all responsibility for the camera, and the attachment of the camera will be temporary and not damage the tree in any way (City Forester has reviewed and approved).  A small laminated sign will be attached to the camera explaining why the camera is attached to the tree with Drake's name and contact information should any questions arise.  All other necessary permissions by the City of Madison have been granted.
