Fiscal Note

This proposed resolution authorizes the double fill of position #2712 at CG41-RG9 during the anticipated date range of January 2, 2017 through April 18, 2017 at an estimated cost of $16,626 for salaries and benefits.  This cost will be absorbed in Metro's 2017 operating budget and managed through salary savings.

Resolution authorizing a double-fill of the position of Transit Class A Mechanic (position #2712) due to the retirement of Michael Patton.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Transit Class A Mechanic Michael Patton is retiring from City of Madison employment effective April 18, 2017; and

 

WHEREAS, this position is critical to the smooth operations of Madison Metro as it is the only Mechanic who has the knowledge and experience to perform maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning in the buses.

 

WHEREAS, Madison Metro has requested the authorization to double-fill the position held by Mr. Patton in order to ensure an orderly transition, and

 

WHEREAS, Madison Metro intends to post to fill the position in accordance with collective-bargaining agreement rules on or about January 2, 2017 in order to allow the selected candidate time to work with Mr. Patton to learn the position, and

 

WHEREAS, the double-fill will exceed thirty (30) days;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Madison Metro is authorized to double-fill the position of Transit Class A Mechanic (position number 2712) from January 2, 2017 through April 18, 2017, or Mr. Patton’s final date on the payroll, whichever is later.
