Master Planning Process for the new park in the Allied Drive Neighborhood
Parks staff held public input meetings, attended a number of neighborhood-sponsored events and programs, and hosted sessions with the youth and community to seek input on the design of the new park. These events were done in conjunction with the Allied Drive Neighborhood Resource Team (NRT) and by working with the Alder, neighborhood groups and Allied Stakeholders to obtain input for the new park. This strategy allowed for one-on-one conversations and the opportunity to speak directly about the project with 40-50 people from the community.
A summary of the meetings is as follows:
· June 16, 2016 - Table at the Mosaic Ridge Open House explaining project
· June 22, 2016 - Session working with the Brotherhood for Boys at their regular meeting
· June 26, 2016 - Park planning activity during the snack time at the Prairie Crossing Apartments
· June 26, 2016 - Introduced the project to the Allied / Dunn’s Marsh Neighborhood Association at their regular meeting
· June 29, 2016 - Two sessions ( 2nd & 3rd grade and 4th-8th grade) with youth attending summer camp at MSCR’s The Learning Center and at Marlborough Park
· August 3, 2016 - Parks Planning Table at Allied Movie Night (sponsored by City of Madison Parks)
· August 4, 2016 - Parks Planning session working with the GEMS girls group at their regular meeting at the Boys & Girls Club
· August 6, 2016 - Park Planning Table at the Allied Community Festival at Belmar Hills Park sponsored by Allied Community Partners and The Wellness Center
· August 17, 2016 - Session working with The Brotherhood for Boys to discuss basketball court options for the park
· August 26, 2016 - Park master plan options for voting at the Allied Partners Community Meal
· September 20, 2016 - Park master plan concept provided to the Allied / Dunn’s Marsh Neighborhood Association Meeting for review and approval
