Fiscal Note
The adopted 2016 Capital Budget includes $100,000 in direct appropriations to the Municipal Art Fund (MUNIS Project 10056). The current balance of the Municipal Art Fund is $179,540. Following approval of this proposed resolution, the remaining balance in the fund will be $146,701.
Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. to repair Spirit of Greenbush (2000) Antonio Testolin at the corner of Murray and Regent Streets.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council adopted Resolution ID #30476 on March 19, 2002, adopting the Public Art Framework and Field Guide for Madison, Wisconsin and recommendations contained in the framework; and
WHEREAS, the Public Art Framework calls for long term stewardship of works in the City’s permanent collection, and
WHEREAS, portions of the Spirit of Greenbush’s granite cladding have come loose, and images and text on the granite squares are now difficult to see, and
WHEREAS the memorial is much revered by Madison residents, particularly those with roots in the historic Greenbush neighborhood and those who were involved in the initial effort to commission this memorial to, and
WHEREAS, funding for maintenance and conservation projects are identified as potential expenditures in the Municipal Art Fund in the 2016 Capital Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Arts Program Administrator reviewed proposals from local construction and monument companies and recommends the contract be awarded to J.H. Findorff & Son Inc.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute and agreement for $32,839 with J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. to repair Spirit of Greenbush (2000) Antonio Testolin at the corner of Murray and Regent streets.
