The 2016 Police Department capital budget includes $5,460,000 for the Midtown District Station (MUNIS Project 10390). The total cost of the project is estimated to be $10,830,000. The proposed resolution authorizes an agreement to provide professional commissioning services for the station in the amount of $53,993. Budget authority is available.

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Farnsworth Group to provide professional commissioning services for Midtown Police Station in the amount of $53,993.
Body
WHEREAS the 2016 Capital Budget includes an amount of $981,000 for design and commissioning services for this project, a consultant must be hired to commission this project; and,
WHEREAS the total contract compensation for commissioning services by Farnsworth Group is $53,993; and,
WHEREAS the scope of this work includes commissioning services; and,
WHEREAS systems to be commissioned include the entire HVAC system, the building automation system, the entire plumbing system, the entire electrical systems, renewable energy systems, and building envelope and roofing system as it pertains to HVAC energy conservation; and,
WHEREAS the commissioning services shall meet the requirements of LEED Certification-Silver following the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for New Construction (LEED-NC) Rating System; and,
WHEREAS it is desirable to design the new Midtown Police Station located at 4018 Mineral Point Road in 2016 and begin construction of the new facility in 2017; and,
WHEREAS Farnsworth Group located at 821 South Main Street, DeForest, Wisconsin, has been selected through the “Request for Qualifications” process and “Final Interview” process, and is the final selected candidate in accordance with MGO Section 4.26 of Madison General Ordinances and in accordance with APM No. 3-3 of Administrative Procedure Memorandum; and,
