The Fire Department's participation in the development of the FireTEAM National Test will be accomplished using existing resources. No appropriation is required.
Title
Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a two-year contract with Ergometrics & Applied Personnel Research, Inc. for the Fire Department to participate in the development of the FireTEAM National test.
Body
The Fire Department currently has a contract with Ergometrics & Applied Personnel Research, Inc. to conduct the firefighter applicant process through 2018. As part of the firefighter applicant process candidates participate in the FireTEAM National Test which evaluates the candidate’s abilities as it relates to human relations, mechanical aptitude, math and reading. The FireTEAM National Test is used nationwide as a standardized test for numerous fire departments to determine candidate qualifications.
The Madison Fire Department has the opportunity to participate in the revision and development of the next version of the FireTEAM National Test produced by Ergometrics. By participating in the development process the Fire Department will gain further insight into the testing process. The Fire Department will also be able to provide input into the test design and receive a validation report for test outcomes.
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has the resources available and wishes to participate in the FireTEAM national test development.
WHEREAS, the City of Madison desires to continue to have a fair and equitable firefighter applicant recruit process.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City approve contracting with Ergometrics & Applied Personnel Research, Inc.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute the contract.
