The 2016 Adopted Operating Budget fully funds the Civil Rights Director position. No additional appropriation is required.
Title
Approving an extension of the provisional appointment of Gloria Reyes until such time as the position of Civil Rights Director is filled on a permanent basis.
Body
WHEREAS, Gloria Reyes has been filling the position of Civil Rights Director on a provisional basis since November 30, 2016; and
WHEREAS, City Ordinance allows for provisional appointments for six (6) months unless further approval is granted by the Madison Common Council; and
WHEREAS, the six month provisional appointment has expired; and
WHEREAS, the position of Civil Rights Director is currently in the final stages of the recruitment process, and
WHEREAS, an extension the provisional appointment is needed in order to avoid a gap in leadership in the Civil Rights Department;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the appointment of Gloria Reyes be extended on a provisional basis with no change to the terms of the current provisional appointment until the position is filled on a permanent basis, but no longer than an additional six months.
