The lease shall be executed for a cost of one dollar per annum.

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a lease agreement with Tiger Lilly Seeds for the lease of 801 Royster Oaks Dr (parcel #071009225220). This land is owned and operated by the Storm Water Utility.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Storm Water Utility is the owner of the parcel above which is a detention basin; and
WHEREAS, the basin was recently constructed and seeded with native species (commonly referred to a prairie seeding); and
WHEREAS, City Engineering, via the Storm Water Utility, would normally manage this land as a native area; and
WHEREAS, City Engineering was contacted by Brittany Romine the owner of Tiger Lily Seeds who operates her plant and seed harvesting business with assistance of the Wisconsin Workforce Development and Movin’ Out ( an organization to help differently abled citizens); and
WHEREAS, Ms. Romine will be living in the apartments adjacent to this pond; and
WHEREAS, she would like to maintain (weed, harvest, plant) the prairie in the pond to a level that is not possible with City staff, and
WHEREAS, management of ponds and greenways in this manner is in keeping with the recommendations of the pollinator protection task force; and
WHEREAS, this represents an opportunity for both Ms. Romine and the City and Storm Water Utility
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute lease with Tiger Lilly Seeds with the level of funding noted above.
