Title

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to sign an agreement with Joanne Keane, her 2016 Contract for Professional Services as a Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the Building Inspection Division of the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development.

Body

WHEREAS, Section 32.04(4)(e)2., Madison General Ordinances, entitles Rent Abatement Hearing Examiners to conduct hearings on requests for authorization for rent abatement and to determine the exact amount of rent, if any, which may be abated pursuant to the Ordinances; and

 

WHEREAS, this resolution will be referred to the Landlord and Tenant Issues Committee and that committee will provide a recommendation to enter into an agreement with Joanne Keane for professional services as a Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the year 2016, the funds for which are available in the budget of the Building Inspection Division as set forth in the fiscal note above.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk be and hereby are authorized to sign, on behalf of the City, an agreement with the aforementioned attorney providing for services as a Rent Abatement Hearing Examiner for the Building Inspection Division of the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development for the calendar year of 2016, at a rate of $70.00 per hour with a $210 maximum per hearing. Reconsideration hearings will have a maximum rate of $210 per hearing.
