Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution includes approval of the Fire Department’s acceptance of donated goods or services for the Department’s Community Education Outreach program of no more than $15,000 annually from one party or business. The Fire Department anticipates this resolution could allow for up to $20,000 of donated goods and services annually based on past donations.

Title

Approving the Fire Department to accept donations of goods or services of no more than $15,000 annually from one party or business that are distributed to the community.

Body

The Fire Department participates in neigborhood events and has children participating in station visits in groups or with parents. The Department also paricipates in City sponsored events such as the October fire truck parade, Safety Saturday, Safety Town and other City events.  Firefighters  also hand out fire safety materials to kids and families when out in the community and during October visits to the schools for Fire Prevention week. Businesses or individuals may wish to contribute to this community education outreach program in goods or services rather than in dollars.

 

The Fire Department will track these donations for each calendar year.The name of the donor, items donated and donor's value of each donation will be recorded .

 

 

WHEREAS, the City wishes to receive donations of goods or services for distribution by the Fire Department to the community during public events and at Department functions.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that goods and services can be accepted by the Fire Department for distribution to the community.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Fire Department is responsible for maintaining a record of all annual donations of good or services,

 

BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, no party or vendor can donate more than $15,000 annually without Council approval,
