Creating Section 8.24(1)(ee) of the Madison General Ordinances to ban alcohol from Olbrich Park.

Body

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance recreates an alcohol ban at Olbrich Park that was previously created in ORD-12-00084 (Legistar File No. 26652).  The prior ordinance included a sunset clause and the ban expired on June 27, 2013.  Alcohol consumption at the park remains a problem.  This ban will not apply to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, or other areas of the park where approved by the Parks Division or Parks Superintendent.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

Subdivision (ee) of Subsection (1) entitled “Prohibition” of Section 8.24 entitled “Alcohol Beverage Control and Container Control on Certain Public Property" of the Madison General Ordinances is created to read as follows:

“(ee)                     Olbrich Park, except for the Olbrich Botanical Gardens and except with the prior approval of the Parks Division or the Parks Superintendent.”
