Title

Approving the acceptance of powered air-purifying respirators (valued at $18,740) donated by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the Ironman Foundation

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the Ironman Foundation partnered to provide $100,000 in grant funding for first responder groups where Ironman events take place, and Wisconsin is one of the seven communities; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Madison Police Department requested powered air-purifying respirators allows officers to operate more effectively for longer periods within personal protective equipment, enabling them to effectively resolve any public safety incidents involving potential chemical and biological emergency operations.

 

WHEREAS, the foundations have agreed to fully fund this request for thirteen respirators, totaling $18,740; and

 

WHEREAS, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will purchase the equipment and have it shipped directly to the Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, the foundations will celebrate the donation to the Police Department at the upcoming Ironman event on Friday, September 11, 2015.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council approves accepting the powered air-purifying respirators valued at $18,740.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Common Council expresses sincere appreciation for this generous gift from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the Ironman Foundation.
