Title
Approving temporary construction work with associated noise impacts between the hours of 7:00 PM and 12:00 AM on N. Charter Street at University Avenue.
Body
The City of Madison plans to repair the concrete pavement through the crosswalk on Charter Street north of University Avenue. Due to the impact on traffic of the intersection closure during the week, City Engineering proposes to allow the Contractor to work between the hours of 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM on either Friday, May 22, 2015 OR Friday, May 29, 2015. The work taking place on this project cannot be constructed between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM because:

· The weekend in which the construction will take place, N. Charter Street will be closed to thru traffic from University Avenue to Linden Drive. The intersection closure will only be allowed during one weekend allowing for a small construction timeframe.

The proposed activities beyond the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM are as follows:
1. Sawcutting and removal of concrete pavement and curb.
2. Preparing subgrade for the concrete pour.

The estimated dates are as follows:
1. If work is completed the weekend of Friday, May 22, 2015, Charter Street will close on Friday at 7:00 PM and reopen no later than Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM.
2. If work is completed the weekend of Friday, May 29, 2015, Charter Street will close on Friday at 7:00 PM and reopen no later than Monday, June 1, 2015 at 6:00 AM.

The date of the closure will be determined by the contractor’s schedule and weather.

Construction activities generally exceed the noise limits imposed by the Madison General Ordinances and temporary construction activity between the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM is allowed to exceed the noise limits imposed by the Madison General Ordinances section 24.08(3) provided the Common Council adopts a resolution allowing the construction.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that construction work, with associate...
