The 2015 adopted operating budget of the Community Development Division authorizes expenditures of $100,000 for Community Building and Engagement. This Resolution allocates $100,000 in Community Building and Engagement funds. No additional appropriation is required.

Approving the provision of up to $100,000 in 2015 Community Building and Engagement (CBE) funds to agencies and authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into agreements with those agencies to implement the designated projects.
Body
The adopted 2015 Community Development Division (CDD) Operating Budget (File ID #35616) includes $100,000 in Community Agency Contract expenditures for projects to be funded with Community Building and Engagement funds. This resolution allocates $100,000 of the funds.

WHEREAS, the adopted 2015 CD Division Operating Budget includes $100,000 in authorized program expenditures for CBE-funded Community Agency Contracts; and,

WHEREAS, the CD Division subsequently completed a Request for Proposals and received applications totaling more than $330,000 in requests, and,

WHEREAS, the Community Development Division utilized a cross-functional staff team comprised of staff from the City’s Community Development Division, Planning Division, Police Department, Public Library, Mayor’s Office and two members from the County’s Joining Forces for Families staff to review and make recommendations for CBE funding; and,

WHEREAS, on April 8, 2015 the cross-functional team finalized the following recommendations:

Lussier Community Education/ Goodman Community Center for Neighborhood Organizing Project: up to $74,984 to provide support and develop the active leaders already at work in low income neighborhoods all over Madison.

Centro Hispano of Dane County for Programa Bienestar en Centro Hispano: up to $25,016 to build engagement in the Latino community in South Madison, using the community wellness advocacy model.
