Title
Honoring and commending the work of Will and Becky Green and Mentoring Positives for their positive contribution to the youth of Madison, especially the youth of the Darbo-Worthington Neighborhood.
 
Body
WHEREAS, Mentoring Positives Inc. celebrated 10 years of service to Madison's Youth; and,
WHEREAS, Mentoring Positives has touched the lives of over 1,000 young people over these 10 years; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mentoring Positives vision is to provide a sustainable infrastructure of mentoring services through three core building blocks; social capital, social entrepreneurship and civic engagement; and,
WHEREAS, Off the Block Salsa is one of Mentoring Positives tastiest programs bringing youth from the Darbo-Worthington neighborhood together to learn about entrepreneurialism through the manufacture and sale of salsa; and,
WHEREAS, Mentoring Positives helps youth in their mentoring program to help their communities become more self sufficient by growing locally grown produce; and,
 
WHEREAS, Off the Block Salsa has sold over 2,000 jars of salsa and has developed strong relations with a number of  partners like, Metcalfe's Market and Farm Market Kitchen in Algoma, WI; and,
WHEREAS, community leaders have emerged from the program, including: Tyron Watson, Maurice Banks, Arthur Adams, Eric Aikens and Rafeal Ragland; and,
 
WHEREAS, Mentoring Positives looks forward to expanding their sales of Off The Block Salsa, increasing their production and continuing to find ways to have a positive effect on the lives of young Madisonians,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Madison Common Council honors and commends the work of Will and Becky Green and Mentoring Positives for their positive contribution to the youth of Madison, especially the youth of the Darbo-Worthington Neighborhood.
