Funding for replacement of Fire apparatus is included in the Fleet Services annual capital budget, subject to Council approval. No addtional appropriation is required for the agreement.

Approve an agreement with Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. to purchase Fire Apparatus.

The City of Madison has purchased fire apparatus from Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. for several years. Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. has submitted a proposal to the City to purchase fire apparatus based on the Product Price Index. The pricing would be based on the most recent specifications for fire engines, aerial ladders, heavy duty rescues, and aerial platform ladders. Any new truck pricing for the same type would be based on the Producer Price Index Industry Data Series ID: PCU3361203361202.
Price changes due to State, Federal or industry mandates will be additional charges to the price of new vehicles that have already been adjusted for the PPI index change. Any apparatus of a different type that is contracted will establish the base unit price for additional future orders. Any product obsolesce or major product changes by the City will result in an analysis of the requested changes and the submission of change orders to the City for approval.
The term of this agreement will start on January 1, 2015 and expire on December 31, 2020. The agreement can be terminated at any time by either the City or Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. This agreement can also be extended in five year increments upon the written agreement of the City and Pierce Manufacturing, Inc.
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Fire Deparment has found Pierce fire apparatus to be reliable.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council approves an agreement with Pierce Manufacturing , Inc for a five year term and the option to extend the agreement in five year increments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council approves the Mayor, Clerk, Fire Chief and Fleet Services Manager to sign the agreement.
