Title
Authorizing the City to contract with the vendor, selected by the staff review committee, to prepare a detailed Program Plan for energy efficiency in residential and municipal buildings as part of the application for the Georgetown University Energy Prize competition.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has a longstanding commitment to sustainability, is a signatory on the Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement, has adopted The Natural Step framework for sustainability and adopted :The Madison Sustainability Plan: Fostering Environmental, Economic and Social Resiliance" in May of 2012; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council authorized the Mayor to become an Inaugural Signatory of the Resilient Communities of America Agreement in May 2013; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council approved funding and authorization for the initial application for the Georgetown University Energy Prize (GUEP) competition in February 2014 and the initial application phase has been accepted and the next phase is beginning;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City of Madison enter into a contract with the selected vendor to develop under the guidance of the Sustainable Madison Committee, the Facilities and Sustainability Manager and City staff, the detailed energy efficiency Program Plan required as part of the competition;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds for this shall be allocated from the Sustainability Plan capital project
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that with successful completion of the detailed Program Plan and acceptance into continuation of the GUEP competition that the selected vendor also assist in the implementation of the Program Plan over the competition period.
