Authorizing an amendment to the contract between the City of Madison and Assemblage, LLC in the amount of $15,270 for additional architectural and engineering design services for the Highland Manor Community Safe Room project. (14th AD)
Body
Whereas, the parties, the City of Madison ("City") and Assemblage Architects, LLC ("Architect" or "Contractor") entered into a contract for purchase of architectural and engineering design services for Highland Manor Community Safe Room on July 16, 2013, and,
Whereas, the amendment is the continuing development and preparation of architectural and engineering design, plans and specifications, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process and construction administration services for the design and construction of a new building for the Highland Manor Community Safe Room located at Highland Manor Mobile Home Park, and,
Whereas, the amendment is to provide extra architectural and engineering design services for additional site design meetings and extra site design work due to site complexity and extra coordination of the City's portion of site development into a comprehensive whole, and,
Whereas, these extra design services include site design of parking lot transitions to the existing Manor Drive roadway conditions, coordinate MG&E electrical and gas services to the proposed building, extra geotechnical meetings and excavation design for soils surcharging the building pad, alternate grading and drainage options to limit disturbance to existing trees, additional curb/gutter/sidewalk details, roof downspout drainage design to underground storm sewer connections, assist City in determining unit prices for unforeseen soils conditions, and assist the City for the City Zoning submittal review, and,
Whereas, the water main and site grading work have been re-bid by City Engineering to obtain lower construction costs for these portions of the project and these extra design services by Assemblage Architects, LLC include preparation of plans and specifications documents to re-bid the building component portion of the project, and,
Whereas, additional professional design services shall include civil, architectural, structural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical engineering, fire protection, and other disciplines as required, and,
Whereas, the 2014 Capital Budget includes funding in account number CB60-58011-810765-00-53W1625 for architectural and engineering consultant design services, an Architect consultant must be hired to design this project, and,
Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute contract Amendment No. 1 to Contract # 7105 between the City of Madison and Assemblage Architect, LLC to authorize the additional work as described above and payment in the amount not to exceed $15,270.
