Title

Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Destree Design Architects, Inc to provide professional architectural and engineering design services for CCB City Channel Remodel in the amount of $55,920.

Body

WHEREAS the 2014 Capital Budget includes funding for design and engineering services, an architect consultant must be hired to design this project; and,

WHEREAS the contract compensation for architectural and engineering design services for Destree Design Architect, Inc. is $55,920; and,

WHEREAS the project is the continuing development and preparation of architectural and engineering design, plans and specifications, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process and construction administration services for the design and construction for the CCB City Channel Remodel, located on the third (3^rd) floor in the City-County Building at 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in Madison, Wisconsin; and,

WHEREAS the project includes remodeling of around 5,006 square feet on the 3^rd floor of the City-County Building for the new City Channel Studio Suite and partial remodeling of the existing Share Resource Partnership suite; and,

Whereas the design services by Destree Design Architects, Inc. will include architectural, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical power and lighting design services; and,

Whereas the design will include relocating existing City Channel furniture and office related equipment to the new location in the City-County Building; and,

Whereas the project is necessary to relocate the City Channel studio and offices from the Madison Municipal Building into a new location in the City-County Building; and,

WHEREAS Destree Design Architects, Inc. has completed early space needs programming, concept planning, and cost estimating for this project, and have provided these services in the recent past, and it would be economical to the City on the basis of time and money to retain this same consultant for this project; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a contract for purchase of services, in a form to be approved by the City Attorney, with Destree Design Architects, Inc. to provide professional architectural and engineering design services for the CCB City Channel Remodel.
