Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to execute an agreement with MSA Professional Services for design engineering services for the design of sanitary sewer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Stoughton Road (USH 51) Bridge Overpass over Cottage Grove Road.

PREAMBLE
The City is proposing to relocate sanitary sewer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Stoughton- Madison Road (Cottage Grove Road, Overpass B-13-210) project. The proposed bridge columns will be in conflict with the City Sewer. The City sanitary sewer is undersized and will be upsized to and 18" diameter sewer with the project. In total 1,560 feet of sanitary sewer main will be relocated and upsized on Cottage Grove Road. The consultant's services will include sanitary sewer design and preparation of plans and specifications.
The City Engineer recommends the design engineering contract be awarded to MSA Professional Services. MSA Professional Services is already under contract with the WisDOT to design the bridge improvements. Given the extent of proposed street and utility work, MSA Professional Services was selected to prevent any setbacks in the design process.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute an agreement with MSA Professional Services for design engineering services for the design of sanitary sewer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Stoughton Road (USH 51) Bridge Overpass over Cottage Grove Road. This is a sole source contract based upon the reasons mentioned above.
