Fiscal Note
The 2014 adopted capital budget of the Planning and Community and Economic Development agency provides funding of $100,000 for capital art expenditures (Project No. 1, "Municipal Art Fund," Acc't No. 810427). The proposed grant award is $6,329. No additional appropriation is required.

Seeking Common Council approval of Art in Public Places funding award to the Bayview Foundation, Inc on behalf of the Monona Bay Neighborhood Association as recommended by the Madison Arts Commission.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council adopted Resolution ID #30476 on March 19, 2002, adopting the Public Art Framework and Field Guide for Madison, Wisconsin and recommendations contained in the framework; and
WHEREAS, the Public Art Framework and Field Guide recommends the Madison Arts Commission create opportunities for community partnerships for Art in City-Building; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission, whose mission it is to make the arts an essential part of the lives of all of Madison's citizens, re-established the Art in Public Places (AIPP) program at their Wednesday, May 9, 2012, meeting; and
WHEREAS, funding for these projects are identified as potential expenditures in the Municipal Art Fund in the 2014 Capital Budget; and
WHEREAS, at the April 9, 2014 meeting of the Madison Arts Commission, members reviewed the request of the Monona Bay Neighborhood Association to receive AIPP funding to work with artist Michael Burns to enhance the sense of place of the Brittingham Community Gardens (located where West Main dead ends in Brittingham Park); and
WHEREAS, the result of this project will be the creation of a permanent work of art by Michael Burns to demarcate the community gardens in Brittingham Park; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission reviewed the proposal and recommends funding fiscal receiver Bayview Foundation, Inc. on behalf of Monona Bay Neighborhood Association at $6,329 for the creation of site-specific art piece by Michael Burns for ...
