Amending Section 16.25(4) of the Madison General Ordinances to update the City of Madison's Official Map as defined by the current City of Madison corporate boundary legal description on file with the City Engineer, the extraterritorial jurisdiction limits provided by Wis. Stat. § 236.10 (1) (b) 2, and any and all agreements with adjacent towns, villages, cities, or the state.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: The legal description of the City of Madison Official Map currently contained in Sec. 16.25(4) is outdated and inconsistent with the corporate boundary legal descriptions on file with the City Engineer. This amendment corrects that problem by directly referencing the corporate legal boundaries on file with the City Engineer, the extraterritorial jurisdiction limits provided by Wis. Stat. § 236.10 (1) (b) 2, and any and all agreements with adjacent towns, villages, cities, or the state. In doing so, this amendment will update the current legal description contained in Sec. 16.25(4) and allow the legal description to automatically change if and when the City's corporate legal boundaries change in the future.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subsection (4) entitled "Description of Area Subject to Ordinance" of Section 16.25 entitled "Official Map" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
"(4) Description of Area Subject to Ordinance. The official map is hereby established for that part of the City of Madison and those parts of the Towns of Middleton, Verona, Madison, Blooming Grove, Burke and Westport described as follows: Sections 12 (Southeast 1/4), 13, 14, 22 through 27 inclusive, Sections 34, 35 and 36, Town 7 North, Range 8 East, Dane County Wisconsin; Sections 1 through 3 inclusive, and the North 1/2 of Section 11, Town 6 North, Range 8 East, Dane County, Wisconsin; Sections 1 (Northeast 1/4), 7, 12 through 14 inclusive, and 18 through 26 inclusive, 27 (North 1/2), 28 (except the Southeast 1/4), and 29 through 36 inclusive, Town 7 North, Range 9 East, Dane County, Wisconsin; Sections 1 through 6 inclusive, Town 6 North, Range 9 East, Dane County, Wisconsin; Sections 2 through 11 inclusive, 14 through 16 inclusive, 19 (South 1/2), 20 (Southwest 1/4), 21 through 24 inclusive, 26, 27, 30 (West 1/2), 31, 32, 34 and 35, Town 7 North, Range 10 East, Dane County, Wisconsin; Sections 16 through 23 inclusive, and 26 through 35 inclusive, Town 8 North, Range 10 East, Dane County, Wisconsin; Sections 13, 14, 22 through 26 inclusive, 27 (East 1/2), 35 (Northeast 1/4), and 36 (except the Southwest 1/4), Town 8 North, Range 9 East, Dane County, Wisconsin The official map area is hereby established for the City of Madison and all those parts of adjacent townships as defined by the current City of Madison corporate boundary legal description on file with the City Engineer, the extraterritorial jurisdiction limits as provided by Wis. Stat. § 236.10 (1) (b) 2, and any and all agreements with adjacent towns that are approved by town(s), village(s), city(ies) and the state.
The official map, together with all information shown thereon, shall be as much a part of this ordinance as if fully set forth and described herein. The official map shall show the location and width of all airports, airport affected areas, platted and existing streets, highways, waterways, parkways, parks and playgrounds as heretofore laid out, adopted and established by law and shall also show the exterior lines, widening or extending of any existing, proposed or planned streets, highways, waterways, parkways, parks and playgrounds. The official map is deemed to be final and conclusive with respect to the location and width of streets, highways, waterways and parkways and the location and extent of parks and playgrounds shown thereon."
